Orik Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 24, 2026 · Data controller: Levon Gekchian

This policy explains how Orik handles information when you use the iOS app. The data controller is Levon Gekchian. Contact: l.gekchyan@gmail.com.

Information you save in Orik

Orik stores the date records you create: a person or event name, date, type, comment, gift-idea text or link, and reminder preferences. It also stores app settings such as language, style, and whether Contacts, Calendar, or reminders are enabled. These records are kept in the app’s on-device storage and shared with Orik’s widget through Apple’s app-group storage. Orik has no user account or developer-operated account server.

Contacts you choose to sync

Contacts sync is off until you enable it. If you enable it and grant iOS permission, Orik reads the contact identifier, name, and birthday for contacts available under that permission. It does not request phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, or contact notes. Orik uses the identifier to match imported dates to the same contact during later syncs. Contact names, birthdays, and identifiers are saved in the app’s local records; Orik does not send them to its developer or include them in AppMetrica events. If you also enable Calendar sync, the name and date are copied to the Orik calendar as described below.

Turning Contacts sync off stops future imports and updates but leaves existing date records in Orik. You can delete a date in the app or change Contacts access in iOS Settings.

Calendar and reminders

If you enable Calendar sync, Orik requests full Calendar access so it can create, update, and remove its own events. Its sync code searches only the dedicated “Orik” calendar. It writes the date name as the event title, the date, your event comment in the notes, and an internal marker used to recognize Orik’s events. It does not query events from your other calendars. Your calendar account or Apple may sync those events according to your iOS settings.

If you enable reminders, Orik schedules local iOS notifications. A reminder can contain the date name and timing. Notification content is created on the device; Orik does not send it to its analytics provider. Turning reminders off removes Orik’s pending and delivered notifications.

Analytics from Yandex AppMetrica

Orik uses Yandex AppMetrica to understand app usage. When the Release app starts with analytics configured, it starts AppMetrica automatically; Orik currently does not show a separate analytics consent control. Events can indicate whether the first launch had saved dates, whether the first date was created manually or imported, the type of gift idea saved (note, link, or both), which screen opened the paywall, the subscription plan and transaction environment, purchase or restore outcome, and notification-permission status.

These events do not contain date names, birthdays, comments, gift text, links, contact identifiers, payment-card details, receipts, or transaction identifiers. Orik disables AppMetrica’s location tracking and automatic purchase-revenue tracking. It does not integrate AppMetrica’s advertising-support module or request App Tracking Transparency permission.

AppMetrica may process technical app, device, and session information and the IP address used to send analytics. Yandex’s documentation says AppMetrica stores full IP addresses by default unless IP masking is enabled for the app. AppMetrica processes analytics under its service terms.

Subscriptions and Apple services

Apple processes Orik Plus purchases and provides the app with the verified subscription status needed to unlock Plus. The app does not receive your payment-card details. Orik’s analytics events include the plan and transaction environment, but not the amount, receipt, or transaction identifier. TestFlight purchases use Apple’s sandbox and do not charge you.

Apple also provides Contacts, Calendar, notifications, and App Store services. Their handling of information is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Calendar entries saved to an account that syncs with Apple or another calendar provider may be transmitted by that provider.

How long information stays

Orik keeps date records on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Turning Contacts sync off does not delete imported dates. Orik-marked events already saved in Calendar are managed separately from app records; you can use Calendar sync settings to remove them when access is available. iOS backups and calendar-account settings may retain copies.

Security and changes

Orik stores app records on your device and uses Apple’s platform controls and Yandex AppMetrica for analytics transmission. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We will update this policy when our data practices change and post the new effective date here.
